Faith In The OC

Again I feel the need to apologize for not updating this sooner. There are lots of excuses but not really important I suppose. So on with the news:

The interview with Enterprise did not go well. It went both ways. I didn't feel that it was really a company that I would feel comfortable working with so it is good that I was not offered a job. The interview with the Irvine Company went very well. I was not very qualified for the job I was interviewing with but the person doing the interview liked me quite a bit and so sent my resume on to another department that was in need of someone like me. So I am still waiting for a call from that department but that might be a good place to land if possible. I also have an interview with the Federal Government through Adecco today (Tuesday) at 2. The pay is a little less than what I was hoping for but it does sound like a fun and challenging job.

In other news we are staying with friends out in Irvine (South Orange County) for the week. We are really starting to get a feel for Southern California!!

OK - long story but somehow all of this was deleted and is now back so I will make an amendment here to give a little more update:

The interview with the Feds went ok. It wasn't great but I will find out tomorrow whether I get the job or not. I also had a lead today with a company called Countrywide Mortgage. I brought my resume in and got 5 min. With the manager. It went really well and she is looking over my stuff. I will talk with her again tomorrow and see where we're at if it looks good from that point she will do a background check and then we'll go from there. It looks really good though. Some of my mortgage friends say everything she told me sounded very positive so that is good to hear. So along with that I just have to tell you how community is so wonderful and God uses brothers and sisters. I got the application for this job from a friend from The Portico. He gave me all the info. And as we were talking another member of the church came up and told us that she knew the person that I was going to see because she did the loan for her house. Her brother in law also works for the company very high up so she called this morning and recommended me. I didn't even remember that she was going to do that but because of that and because of the fact that I made the effort to get myself in there and make it a point to see the manager it's looking really good. So a HUGE shout out to Paul and Sharon. It's all about God's plan and His people. Amazing............Some more amazing is this. We are out of a place to stay tomorrow. We were talking about staying in a hotel so that we could be just our family for a couple days. A friend of ours heard about this and contacted some people she knows and it looks like we will be staying at the Disney Hotel for free. It's a 4 star hotel and cost about 275 a night. Crazy! We don't know for sure that it will work out but it looks like it so I'll let you all know soon. This will cover 2 of the 3 days we need. Please pray for the 3rd to be covered somewhere too.

Some Thoughts:
A couple weeks ago I fasted and took a good day to just pray and listen to God. He took me into Matthew. Matthew 14:13-36:

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand
13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick. 15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, "This is a remote place, and it's already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food." 16Jesus replied, "They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat." 17"We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish," they answered. 18"Bring them here to me," he said. 19And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. Jesus Walks on the Water 22Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24but the boat was already a considerable distance[
1] from land, buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. 25During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. "It's a ghost," they said, and cried out in fear. 27But Jesus immediately said to them: "Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid." 28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water." 29"Come," he said. 30Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?" 32And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, "Truly you are the Son of God." 34When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret. 35And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him 36and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.

It's really all about faith. It's the faith that when God calls we can get out of the boat and make it through the impossible. The impossible is what gives God the glory and that is the point anyways. I have felt so many different feelings going through this time down here in California. I felt desperation, I've felt on the top of the world, I've been frustrated, angry, confused and honestly there has been times that I asked if I had done the right thing moving my family all the way down here for nothing. It's kinda like the Israelites escaping from Egypt. They looked back and saw the Egyptian army chasing them. Of course fear set in and their question was: "Was there not enough room in Egypt to bury us!?"

So in answer to my questions and many others as well: right before the passage above Jesus found out that John had been beheaded. As soon as He found out He tried to escape but people saw where he was going and stopped him. He had such compassion that he stopped his own agenda to meet them where they were at. Even in his own sorrow he put people before himself. The next question is does God (Jesus) change. The answer is no and so He most definitely be there for me. Not only that but as I write this He is working miracles that I can't even see. His hand is in it all.

Jesus then comes walking on the water to where the disciples are in their boat. Peter says: "if it is you Lord then call me to walk to you on the water." Jesus replies: "It is I." Peter gets out of the boat and walks but then must have realized where he was and started to sink. The thing that I think is so amazing about this is that he was out of the boat. I know that we can all understand Peter and various points in the gospels and in this story I totally am with him. We have gotten out of the boat and started walking but there have been times that we realized what we were doing and where we were at and that is very scary. The thing is is that God's rebuke has been gentle just like it was with Peter and yet still forcefully and also He has picked us up and put us back on the water. For this moment there is no getting back into the boat. I am convinced that it will either looking for a job or finding an apartment or whatever it is that is next.

Next is the people that met them on the other side again. They brought their sick and new that if they could just touch Jesus' robe they would be healed. That is faith. That is the faith we all need. and so in conclusion it all comes down to knowing first that God is a loving God and one that will pay attention. Second we must get out of the boat. And finaly have faith that God is bigger than anything we could possibly throw at him and just believing that touching His cloak is enough to heal will be enough to heal. I am now convinced beyond a doubt that their is no great joy than to see what God can do. You want some more stories call me or email me and I'll tell em. It's amazing what God will do when we let Him.

So I'm out for now but go in faith and be challenged. In what way is God calling me to step out of the boat?
